Last year, the first annual art competition, called Artprise, was held here in Grand Rapids in October. It proved to be an enormous success. This year, year two, the number of entries grew to 1730. Everyone can vote for their favorite piece of artwork. There are 5 prizes given for the top 5 entries, and the piece of art which receives the most votes gathers a handsome $250,000 for its creator. It is a great 12 day event to attend. The artwork is displayed indoors and outdoors throughout the city. We did not see everything, even after 3 days of trying to do so. For someone with photography as a hobby, it will make your head spin. (Both 2D and 3D cameras are needed, if you have them.) Attached is an indoor entry which I thought everyone interested in 3D might enjoy. I took the picture with the W3, using the flash. The resulting
shadows were
horrible, and it took me over 3 hours to remove them. I can see where I missed some, but I got tired and called it quits. I only wish that I had the experience to do the photograph justice. I know that most of you would do much better. Ray
