Hi
friends,
Until 60 years ago there was no
private bath in Iranian houses and everybody had to use the
nearest public bath. All of those public baths also
had a place for resting and relaxation that the customers
could rest there after washing their body or before leaving
the place. Women could use the public baths in particular
times or in particular days of the week! That Red cloths/towels have
covered the man body is an especial Persian cloth that had
been so common in all the public baths. we call it "Loong";
Customers had to wear a few Loongs to cover their body and
also use them as towels! Still Loongs easily can be found
in Iran but today we use them for cleaning our cars, windows
and so on. Loong is so soft and also can absorbs water very
well ! Usually such a mannequin have
been created by a group of art students. Recently our art
students hardly try on preserving the past with their
mannequins display.
Hope you like it, Shahrokh.
