Phrenology is a pseudoscience based on the premise that certain brain areas have localized, specific functions or modules. Phrenology was especially popular from about 1810 until 1840. The objects in this photo are old models of the human head that served as aids for practitioners of phrenology. They were up for auction at Christie's, New York, some months ago.
