With the conclusion of my photo contest and the
subsequent shipping-out of the well-earned prizes, I resume my
regular
contributions to the Group.
My friend and his daughter have been scurrying
to get their storefront in Ellenville ready for a new enterprise after
they
closed down their antiques shop. While rummaging
through the remaining items I was fixated by a handsome wooden
box standing alone on the floor. Opening the
container revealed a dusty object that once removed turned out to
be
this dual-eyepiece laboratory microscope.
One needn't know much about optical equipment to be
familiar with the foremost name in that field, the German company,
Leitz, known for its legendary line of Leica
cameras. Without haggling I agreed to Shelly's reasonable asking price,
and a few days later
I brought the finely-crafted piece home. This and all
subsequent views from this series are cha-chas, shot with a Nikon digital
camera, (also a top
name in optics).
