"Over-engineered" is the way that my auto mechanic
described my BMW sports car, with its abundance of
parts, some of them redundant. "But that's the way
the Germans like to design and build things, " I replied.
I think that too many
precision parts is better than too few! That's partly what attracted me to this
near-antiquated
piece of laboratory wizardry. Most likely this
microscope will get very little use from me. But in this age when
practically
every piece of technology has few moving parts, and even
less "serviceable user parts" it's nice to have something
that was built to last. And, with its smooth,
black, semi-gloss finish maintains a certain artistic flair as
well.
I can see in this view an expression of warmth now that
the scope has found a new, loving home.
