It looks like a "probe", possibly deployed for reconnaissance.
 
Duke, you know that the Mandelbulb program allows you to use a background picture from your hard drive within the application. I've tried it a couple of times, but haven't yet figured out how to make the background more viewable to be useful. I used a 2D background that was somewhat viewable but it didn't sit behind the object. Today I tried a 3D background but it wasn't visible for some reason. I'll work more on it later.
 
I'm assuming you did a composite here using PS instead of the background picture capability in Mandelbul 3D?

Yes, I spotted a very strange-looking UFO hovering over the Ohio River just west of the Sherman Minton Bridge!
 
Actually, just having fun with the fractal-generating program, Mandelbulb 3D.  This ufo resulted from the QuatPow formula.
