Almost every year I submit a series of stereos taken of
the U.S. Independence Day parade
in Ellenville, New York. Owing to the difficulties
of dealing with the many colorful vehicles,
floats, and people that appear in bright red hues, I've
employed for the first time a new
technique immodestly called,
Marshallization.
As most of you know, the color red and some others cause
an unpleasant viewing experience known as
retinal rivalry where there is
a clash when those unfriendly colors are viewed simultaneously
through red and cyan filters. We usually deal with
this is ways that represent trade-offs, denying us the
ability to view a scene with a higher degree of
fidelity. One example is the use of the Dubois feature
in Stereo PhotoMaker, that often makes human flesh
tones appear green. Perhaps a good way to describe
this result to call it, Martianization. :-
)
With this technique I altogether abandoned the usual
approaches at our disposal, relying entirely on Marshallization,
and I invite your comments on its effectiveness.
Of course I'm also interested in your feedback on
the actual subject matter, and look forward to
all. If this technique is deemed an overall success I'll
hopefully tweak and further improve it.
Before you come to conclusions on the new technique, please sample
a few series postings to gather up your thoughts on
the process.
Now, on to the Parade. About one hour before the
start of the annual event folks arrive and
pick their vantage points along the Parade
route.
