thanks for pointing out this big source of stereo pairs.
Fortunatly there are also non-war related stereo collections.
In your example I see a few points that may be changed to enhance the viewing pleasure.
First: the alignment.
SPM has a auto-alignment feature (Alt-A on PC) that makes this very
easy. Before you use this it makes sense to crop the left and
right images to the same size, removing frames etc...
Second: ghosting.
To avoid introducing ghosting, all intermediate saves should be
lossless ( PNG or Tiff ). The final save(JPG) should be without color
subsampling (Irfanview, Save, JPG option=disable chroma subsampling).
These two points can make a difference I think
(see added adapted version of your anaglyph).
