There?s a lot more going on in this picture than what I saw while taking the picture.

An old Juniper had fallen, and the roots at the top of the picture reminded me of a wolf howling at the moon.

Once home, looking at the location is Google Earth, I saw one of their little blue squares indicating a Panoramio photo.

Wish I had that good of an eye for details.

 

BTW the pond in the photo is full of small Catfish which will surface when one throws sandwich crumbs in.

Back when the Transcontinental Railroad was being built in this area, mainly by Chinese labor, their cooks planted catfish in the pond. They worked here for a number of years due to the tunnels which had to be blasted through the granite. Pretty resourceful.
