You should remove your anaglyph
glasses for this view. Here is the Gettysburg Address as reported in
Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper in August, 1863.
I own an extensive collection of
Civil War-era newspapers, and this is an actual scan of the newspaper reportage
of Lincoln's speech. A careful reading reveals
that some of the words don't
match some popular versions. I consider, however that this
version is the most authentic, since it comes from a reporter who was at
the
scene.
Don't be alarmed. I didn't
physically clip this from my copy of the newspaper, but rather reconstructed the
article in Photoshop.
