Dariush, it is a wonderful picture to see this man meditating on the
beach at Anzio. This place Anzio is where my father fought with the
Allied Forces. He was an Army Special Forces Ranger and told me many
stories about that place. He lost many friends there in battle and he
told me out of the 1500 Rangers only a handful (15) made it out. The
rest were killed or captured, my Dad was one of the 15 that made it
out. Till the day he died,July 1996, he had nightmares of that place.
I remember going to the beach with him and seeing him stare at the
beach and water almost hypothesized. He told me he was having flash
backs of the war and the beach. My Dad was awarded the third highest
medal given by the US, and he told me that the men who gave there
life deserved it more than him. I am glad Anzio is a place of peace
now, many men died to make it so.
