A couple of weeks ago when I got my new twins, I posted a picture of
the bar I made to mount them with a 3.5" base. That bar has worked
well, but of course isn't suitable for anything closer than about 3
meters. A couple of days ago I thought of another way to mount the
twins other than base to base, and last night finally got time to work
on a new Z bar. Here's a picture of the new bar. The drill
bit is only temporary until I can get to a store and buy a 2 1/2" bolt
that will replace it. In this configuration I have a base of 63mm, much
nicer for close shots, and still have the wide format. With 3072x2304
chips it isn't that critical, but I still prefer wider. I really like
the fact that the lens on this model camera is centered top to bottom
and centered on the tripod mount, and without a lot of stuff sticking
out the sides of the cameras. That makes things so much easier.
