Subject: [Anaglyphs] Re:Fred,Flash: Publishing
Thanks, Fred & Flash for your kind support.
I think that I’m not mistaken by claiming that I’m the only one in the world (that I know of) who converts 2D’s directly to phantograms. Not that there’s anything special in the know-how for doing so, it’s just that I haven’t seen any other phantogram conversions in my five years of 3D experience. I have even published a technique for phantogram conversions on the Phantogram site.
I have considered publishing a book of phantogram conversions as Fred has suggested. But in order to do so I must have the permission of the owner of the original photograph. Anticipating possible publishing, I collected all the contacts for many photographs that I downloaded from Webshots.
When I inquired about what it takes to publish a book, no matter how welcomed it may be, I was totally discouraged. No publisher will consider an author who has never published before. A publishing agent may attempt to introduce a new author to a publisher for 15% of the profit. But agents already have many published authors waiting in line to publish new books they have put together.
I’ve lost mucho bucks on trying to market some of my inventions which can be seen through my website at
http://www.dj- design.com so I’m very reluctant to do the same mistake again.
Some day I will contact Barry Rothstein, a member of the Phantogram group, and ask how he did on his first-ever published book of phantograms. I think that he did all the publishing on his own.
Flash, unfortunately I did not look for, nor note, the name or contact of the hundreds of photos that I downloaded for conversions, though it would be nice to acknowledge them and even to send them a 3D of their own pic.
Thanks again,
Dan

It’s hard to believe someone would have the patience and fortitude to develop a system that would do such a perfect conversion. Dan you should gather your best and publish a book that visual people would purchase and enjoy. Thanks Fred… A picture is worth a thousand words…(in describing a person)…Thanks Fred

Some parts of the picture are blurred because I had to snap the shot while getting out of the way of the stampeding horses ;-)
